Come help us bring joy to movement & connect with community

 

As we are surrounded by 'New Year, New You!' messaging everywhere, Move For Your Mind is focused on a 'New Year, Happier You' and can't wait to connect with our London community (again) IRL!

 

In this two-day event hosted by Jameela Jamil, we will feature panel discussions, fireside chats, a variety of movement sessions, and of course there will be delicious snacks!

This event will be BSL interpreted by Karen Houlihan and Daniel Roberts 

Saturday 18th Jan at, 6pm 

Discover exciting new filmmaking from Deaf filmmakers in our annual selection of short films exploring Deaf lives, culture and language. Curated by programmer Katie Sawyer, this collection reflects the uniqueness and universality of the Deaf experience, through experimental filmmaking, drama, documentary and comedy, with each following a common thread of resilience.

This event has descriptive subtitles and BSL interpretation.

A British Sign Language exhibition tour of Vital Signs: another world is possible, led by artist Rubbena Aurangzeb-Tariq.

 

Science Gallery London’s new exhibition, Vital Signs: Another world is possible brings together artists, designers and researchers to explore these relationships and how the health of the natural world - from our waterways to our atmosphere and the ocean floor - is intimately connected to our own health and wellbeing.

With a cabaret featuring the best of Asian drag, poetry from the National Poetry Library and Daddy Maki’s very own origami workshop, there’s no better place to celebrate Lunar New Year.

Join us as we take you on a speech-to-text and BSL interpreted tour of our latest exhibition Medieval Women: In Their Own Words. This tour is suitable for visitors who are D/deaf, deafened and hard of hearing.   

On this tour you will be guided through the exhibition by a curator and discover the rich and complex lives of women in the Middle Ages. Find out about the extraordinary items that reveal their artistry, resourcefulness, courage and struggles.

The curator will provide an overview of the exhibition and focus in on a number of highlights on display. Live speech-to-text transcription will be provided by Stagetext and a BSL interpreter will be present.

Guests can now enjoy 1000 years of London's darkest history in a new British Sign Language Friendly format on the second Saturday of every month. Come face-to-face with historic characters of the 'bad old days' including Jack the Ripper, Sweeney Todd and Mrs Lovett. Before venturing down to our Victorian tavern pub for some dangerously delicious cocktails.

Join guide Edward Richards for a tour of the highlights of The World of Tim Burton exhibition delivered in British Sign Language for d/Deaf visitors and their companions using BSL.

​

This major exhibition invites visitors to explore Tim Burton’s remarkable creations and key collaborations with designers and makers. While most well-known for his cinematic work, the exhibition celebrates the full extent of Burton’s creative talents as an illustrator, painter, photographer and author.

Drawn from Burton’s personal archive from childhood to the present day, this collection of drawings, paintings, photographs, sketchbooks, moving-image works, sculptural installations, models, set and costume designs manifest recurrent preoccupations, motifs and magic.

Join us for a hands-on event featuring seeds, snacks and lots of facts to inspire kids to get growing, get cooking, and try plant-powered eating.

No matter the era or the conflict, recruiting fresh troops into the British Army has always had its own sets of challenges. For centuries, military recruiters have had to rely on different calls to action to muster support.

From patriotic appeals to fight for King and Country to promises of freedom from the shackles of empire, the evolution of propaganda and recruitment offers a fascinating insight into the history of the British Army.

On this guided gallery tour, Edward Richards will chart the changing face of Army recruitment, highlighting how different tools and tactics have been used to persuade would-be soldiers to enlist.

Join Raze Collective as we take over the space for one night with an exhilarating building wide programme of live art, performance and theatre. Featuring a lineup of incredible artists from Croydon, south London and beyond.

Expect live art, poetry, pole, performance art, drag, comedy, dance and everything at the queer inbetweens.

Focusing on a different specialism every day, the workshops introduce participants to various street art techniques like stencil making, graffiti lettering and how to create art adapted to the urban spaces.

Children work alongside professional artists, learning not only the artistic skills needed but also the importance of teamwork and community expression. Each session empowers children to discover and develop their artistic voice.

Award-winning non-binary emergency medicine doctor and TV presenter Dr Ronx is back with an essential guide to handle any emergency situation, How to Save a Life.

The book empowers young readers to feel prepared, and arms parents with helpful language for navigating challenging conversations and scenarios.

Saturday Sessions are the perfect place to start the weekend. On a monthly basis you can watch a performance, make something with the artists and play with other children and their families – all for free!

This month, Shelf leads us in a side-splitting comedy workshop, complete with silly characters and the chance to be a part of the joke, followed by our monthly Ballroom Boogie.

Join us this International Women's Day to celebrate 15 years of WOW - Women of the World.

Legendary activist Angela Davis will join WOW Founder Jude Kelly in conversation. From being on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list to becoming one of the most sought-after speakers in the world, Davis will discuss love in activism, hope and healing, along with her love of the blues, and her dreams for the future.

Brought up in two indigenous cultures (Hawaiian and Ryukyuan), Stacy Makishi invites you to encounter rowdy rituals and soothing provocations to end the year. Makishi has been making art and infecting folks with curiosity and creativity for over 40 years.

This one-of-a-kind evening bridges generations of creativity, capturing the heart and soul of Lewisham through spoken word and music. Join us for a celebration of music, language, rhythm and community that’s uniquely Lewisham.
